Abstract
⺠Chatter prediction was investigated for orthogonal cutting in turning operations. ⺠Prediction of the chatter frequency of the system and the investigation of its stability were conducted in two separate forms; one was in the form oriented transfer function and the other was in the form of applying Ï-decomposition form to Nyquist criterion. ⺠Results obtained from both forms were compared with the modal analysis conducted and the results of cutting test. ⺠According to both forms of calculus, the results in the prediction of the stability of the system were quite similar.
