Abstract
The preparation of nanocrystalline (Ti, M)(CN)–Ni and (Ti,M1, M2)(CN)–Ni powders from various mixtures of oxides is described. The method involved mechanical alloying, carbo-thermal reduction and nitridation. The resulting powders were solid–solution agglomerates with a crystallites size of ∼30 nm. The powders were chemically pure and had low oxygen content compared to commercial micron grade materials.
