Abstract
We observed a simultaneous enhancement of luminescence and magnetization performance in Gd2O3:Yb/Er and Gd2O3:Yb/Ho nanocrystals (NCs) after the Zn2+ ions were doped into them by a simple wet-chemical route. Besides, the enhanced upconversion (UC) emission excited by 1560Â nm laser and the paramagnetic properties in Gd2O3:Yb/Er/Zn NCs were reported for the first time. This opens a new window for studying the cooperation of the ion doping effect on improving UC luminescence and magnetic properties of Gd2O3 NCs.
