Abstract
In order to improve the mechanical properties of the materials, the pulse-current-assisted ageing treatment has become a hot area of research in material science. The influence of the low-density pulse current ageing treatment on the microstructure and the mechanical properties of AA2219 have been analyzed with TEM, Vickers hardness, mechanical property test and finite element simulation. It is found that the influence of the low-density pulse current on the ageing temperature can be neglected. The ageing precipitation is promoted, the ageing time is shortened, and the hardness and the strength are increased. Through TEM, it is found that the precipitate is more dispersive. Thus, it can be concluded that the low-density pulse current ageing treatment can evidently optimize the microstructure and the mechanical properties of AA2219.
