Abstract
We effectively stabilized the GdAG lattice via Lu3+ doping and developed (Gd,Lu)AG:Tb3+/Eu3+ phosphors for strong green and orange-red emissions in this work. Utilizing the efficient Tb3+-Eu3+, Gd3+-Eu3+, Gd3+-Tb3+ energy transfer, the emission color of the obtained phosphors can be facilely tuned from green to yellow and eventually orange-red by adjusting the amount of Eu3+, and greatly enhanced emission was obtained under the optimal excitation wavelength of 275 nm. The [(Gd0.8Lu0.2)0.9-xTb0.1Eux]AG solid-solution developed in this work may serve as a new type of phosphor that hopefully meets the requirements of various lighting, optical display, and scintillation applications.
