Abstract

•Monoclinic P21/n structure remains stable, at least up to p = 5.7 GPa.•Iron and molybdenum ions distribution in B and B′ sites, at normal conditions.•Evolution with pressure and temperature of the magnetic moments at B and B′ sites.•Pressure dependence of the number of Fe3+ and Mo5+ ions.

Neutron diffraction measurements were made under pressure on Ca1.5La0.5FeMoO6 double perovskite. The monoclinic P21/n structure remains stable up to 5.7 GPa. The ordered magnetic moments at B(Fe) sites increase with pressure, while those at B′(Mo) ones are nearly pressure independent. The magnetic properties determined by neutron diffraction, at normal pressure, are compared with those obtained from magnetic measurements. The sites occupancies and valence states of Fe and Mo cations, when increasing pressure, have been analysed and correlated with the structure parameters.
