•Barium zirconium titanate was synthesized by BaTiO3/ZrO2 and BaCO3/TiO2/ZrO2.•BaZr0.25Ti0.75O3 phase yield increase during synthesis by using ZrO2 nanopowders.•ZrO2 nanopowders allow decreasing the synthesis temperature of BZT.•The radiation stability of synthesis BZT powders was estimate under electron irradiation.
During the synthesis of the BaCO3/TiO2 and BaTiO3 powders with the ZrO2 nanopowders the increase of the yield of the BaZr0.25Ti0.75O3 phase has been established. It was obtained by comparing the XRD results for the synthesis of the barium zirconium titanate powders using the ZrO2 micropowders vs. nanopowders. The effect caused by the high specific surface of the nanoparticles as well as low bonding energy of surface atoms. The changes in the solar absorptance (Δas) after electron exposure on the BaZr0.25Ti0.75O3 powder decrease at using ZrO2 nanopowders.
