Abstract
Sb-Te and Bi-Te binary systems have long-period stacking structures called homologous phases. Within these structures, two types of fundamental structural units change their numbers according to their composition, and the stacking periods also change systematically. X-ray powder diffraction data on bulk specimens with different compositions reveal both the phase boundaries of the homologous phases and the structures of the boundary phases. The boundary phases are Sb20Te3 in the Sb-Te system and Bi8Te3 in the Bi-Te system.
