Abstract

•The VOx-NTs were synthesized by hydrothermal method.•The study of hydrogen storage in VOx-NTs materials were made by volumetric and electrochemical methods.•The VOx-NTs, used as a negative electrode in the Ni-MH batteries, was studied by EIS.•The apparent activation enthalpy (ΔHr*) occurring at the electrode/electrolyte interface is (35.48 ± 3.15) kJ mol−1.

The composites consisting of vanadium oxide nanotubes (VOx-NTs) are synthesized using a hydrothermal treatment procedure. The structure and morphology of the samples were investigated by SEM, XRD and FTIR techniques. The results confirmed that the structure is under tubular form. The study of Hydrogen storage in VOx-NTs materials are made in different ways, volumetric, electrochemical, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy at different temperatures. Electrochemical impedance spectrum of VOx-NTs electrode obtained was interpreted by an equivalent circuit modeling including the different electrochemical processes which are taking place on the interface between the VOx-NTs electrode and the electrolyte.
