Abstract

•The cubic and monoclinic form of RbLa1−xEuxP4O12 nanocrystal phosphor were obtained.•The impact of Eu3+ concentration on luminescent properties was investigated.•The changes in spectroscopic properties were discussed in the local symmetry changes.

The cubic and monoclinic RbLa1−xEuxP4O12 nanocrystalline phosphors were synthesized using co-precipitation method. The influence of the dopant concentration on the structural and luminescent properties was investigated. The concentration of Eu3+ ions has strong impact of the emission spectra, luminescence decay profiles and charge transfer bands. The concentration effect was discussed in term of changes of the Eu3+ local symmetry associated with the differences of the La3+ and Eu3+ ionic radii.
