Abstract
Amazing memory effect due to spin glass-like freezing has been illustrated in the spin-chain single crystal of Ca3Co1.62Mn0.38O6 by systematic magnetization measurements including temperature- and time-dependent magnetization curves in low fields. The observed memory effect can be described by the phenomenological hierarchical model and its origin is associated with chemical disorder and competing antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic interactions due to introduction of Mn. Thus, Ca3Co1.62Mn0.38O6 may be considered as a candidate material for the memory storage devices.
