Abstract
Experimental results indicate that the soild solubilities of Ce in the Ag-Zn binary compounds, e.g. β(AgZn), γ(Ag5Zn8) and ε(AgZn3), are negligible, while that of Zn in Ag4Ce and Ag51Ce14 are 32.5 and 44.1 at.% at 450 °C as well as 33.3 and 44.8 at.% at 600 °C, respectively. The solid solubilities of Ag in Zn3Ce, Zn11Ce3, Zn58Ce13, Zn5Ce, Zn22Ce3, Zn17Ce2 and Zn11Ce are 0.1, 2.1, 33.2, 7.7, 9.7, 48.2 and 23.1 at.% at 450 °C, respectively, while the solid solubilities of Ag in the Zn-Ce binary compounds mentioned above are 1.5, 6.1, 40.1, 8.2, 18.5, 50.7 and 25.8 at.% at 600 °C, respectively. In addition, Ag2Ce and Zn2Ce are combined as (Ag,Zn)2Ce because of their continuous solubility.
