Abstract
The application of cadmium tungstate (CdWO4) to a lithium-ion battery anode was firstly reported in this paper. It was prepared by a facile precipitation reaction process. The CdWO4 sample was characterized using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The electrochemical properties of CdWO4 anode were investigated. The CdWO4 delivered a high initial discharge capacity of 2042.4 mA h gâ1. The CdWO4/C composite showed an improved electrochemical performance with an initial discharge capacity of 2304.1 mA h gâ1 and achieved a discharge capacity of 305.1 mA h gâ1 after 19 cycles. Electrochemical reaction mechanism of CdWO4 with Li was also studied by cyclic voltammetry. It is suggested that CdWO4 can be a promising high-capacity anode material for lithium-ion batteries.
