Abstract
Simple laminate composite was prepared by bonding a Terfenol-D plate and a multilayer vibrator together. The composite enjoyed a high magnetic field sensitivity of 15 nC/Oe at the magnetoelectric coefficient of 9.5 V/(cm Oe), which could detect 0.1 mOe magnetic field. Giant converse magnetoelectric coefficient reached 46.5 G/V for the whole sample and 74 G/V at the middle of composite. These high qualities were achieved only with a Pb(Zr,Ti)O3 multilayer vibrator instead of Pb(Zr,Ti)O3 single-layer in the piezoelectric part due to its much large capacitance, large effective area and low thickness. This approach provides a promising application for the magnetoelectric materials.
