Abstract
A new ternary borate, RbCdB3O6 has been synthesized and its structure was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction for the first time. Detailed structural analyses show that RbCdB3O6 possesses the [RbCdB3O6] layers. The antiparallel arrangement of B3O6 rings makes it crystallize in the centrosymmetric group and has a relatively large birefringence.
