Abstract
The influence of strain rate on the stress induced martensitic transformation in β solution treated TB8 alloy was investigated. The results show that the stress induced martensitic transformation takes place in β solution treated TB8 alloy with the increase of strain rate from 500 s−1 to 2000 s−1, and the trigger stress rises with the increase of the strain rate. Test result shows that the microstructures are composed of needle sheet α′′ and β matrix for all dynamic compression specimens at all strain rates. The dependence of the trigger stress on strain rate was explained in terms of the interface structure of martensite dislocation model.
