Abstract
► A comparison between the solidification using electromagnetic levitation of Al-8 wt%Fe under terrestrial and reduced gravity conditions is shown. ► The microstructure evolution during solidification of Al-8 wt%Fe is formulated with the aid of a comprehensive set of complementary characterization techniques. ► Identification of Al-Fe intermetallics using TEM and Rietveld analysis.
