BaCeO3 powders were synthesized by calcinations of metal-polyvinyl alcohol (M-PVA) gel precursor calcined at 1100 °C. BaCe0.7Zr0.1Gd0.2O3−δ powders were also fabricated by the similar method. A perovskite compound formation is mainly by the chemical reaction between BaCO3 and CeO2. The impedance spectra indicate total electrical conductivity (1.84 × 10−2 S cm−1) of BaCe0.7Zr0.1Gd0.2O3−δ electrolyte pellet enhances three orders than that (7.90 × 10−5 S cm−1) of BaCeO3 sample.
► Metal-polyvinyl alcohol gel method fabricate phase-pure BaCeO3 and BaCe0.7Zr0.1Gd0.2O3−δ. ► The formation of crystalline BaCeO3 undergoes the solid state reaction between BaCO3 and CeO2. ► The electrical conductivity was studied by impedance spectra. ► BaCe0.7Zr0.1Gd0.2O3−δ show superior electrical property.
