Abstract
⺠The W phase in the as-cast ZW21 alloy is harmful to its mechanical properties. ⺠Heat treatment can change the amount, size, morphology of the W phase. ⺠A proper treatment technique can obviously improve the mechanical properties. ⺠The fracture mechanisms also change with the treatment parameters.
