Abstract
► Optical energy gap (Eg) of PVA reduces after embedding Ag nanoparticles. ► On exposure to γ-radiations at various doses, the value of Eg was reduces further. ► The refractive index (n) of PVA increases after embedding Ag nanoparticles. ► With gamma exposure the refractive index 'n' of PVA/Ag nanocomposites increases. ► Increase in 'n' suggests the possibility of their use in optical device applications.
