Abstract
► CaO-Al2O3-SiO2 glasses with low thermal expansion constant (4.5 × 10−6 °C−1) were properly designed and prepared. ► The 70 wt% glass/fused silica composites achieved sufficient densification at 900 °C. ► Undesired cristobalite phase was reduced by changing sintering schedule. ► The composite with 70 wt% Glass C exhibited low thermal expansion constant of 4.8 × 10−6 °C−1, close to that of silicon.
