Abstract
⺠CaO-Al2O3-SiO2 glasses with low thermal expansion constant (4.5 Ã 10â6 °Câ1) were properly designed and prepared. ⺠The 70 wt% glass/fused silica composites achieved sufficient densification at 900 °C. ⺠Undesired cristobalite phase was reduced by changing sintering schedule. ⺠The composite with 70 wt% Glass C exhibited low thermal expansion constant of 4.8 Ã 10â6 °Câ1, close to that of silicon.
