Abstract

Magnetic properties and high frequency characteristics of obliquely sputtered Co100−xMx (M = V and Nb) films were investigated. All studied films exhibited strong induced in-plane uniaxial magnetic anisotropy. Less content of Nb (x = 7) than V (x = 16) is sufficient for Co100−xMx films to become fully amorphous which exhibit the maximum magnetic anisotropy filed, reduced coercivity and the increased resistivity. The optimal properties of 4πMs = 11.3 kG, Hk = 350 Oe and fFMR = 5.6 GHz are attained for Co93Nb7 film, which are suitable for up to 5 GHz applications.

► Co100-x Mx (M = V and Nb) films exhibit strong in-plane uniaxial magnetic anisotropy. ► Less Nb content (x = 7) than V (x = 16) let Co100-xMx films be fully amorphous. ► Co93Nb7 film shows the maximum Hk = 350 Oe and fFMR = 5.6 GHz. ► It is suitable for up to 5 GHz applications.
