Abstract

Electromagnetic and microwave absorbing properties of the ordered mesoporous carbon (OMC) doped by Ni2O3 nanoparticles absorber was investigated for the first time. A minimum reflection loss (RL) value of −39 dB at 10.9 GHz and a broad absorption band with the RL values under −10 dB is obtained in the whole Ku-band and X-band when the thickness is 2.0 mm and 2.8 mm, respectively. It showed far more excellent microwave absorbing properties with respect to undoped Ni2O3 OMC/paraffin composite. This phenomenon could be attributed to the strong cooperative effect between Ni2O3 and OMC.

Graphical abstractIt was interesting to find that Ni/OMC/paraffin shows much higher microwave absorption than OMC/paraffin without doping Ni2O3 due to the strong cooperation effect between Ni2O3 nanoparticles and OMC nanorods.Figure optionsDownload full-size imageDownload as PowerPoint slideHighlights► Microwave absorbing properties of Ni/OMC/paraffin absorber was investigated for the first time. ► A minimum reflection loss value of −30 dB at 10.9 GHz was obtained with the thickness of 2.5 mm. ► A broad absorption band with the RL values under −10 dB was obtained in the whole Ku-band and X-band. ► Ni-doped composite showed excellent microwave absorption with respect to undoped absorber. ► This could be attributed to the cooperative effects between Ni2O3 and OMC.
