Abstract
► The dehydriding kinetics of LaNi5 and its subsystems were comparatively investigated by model fitting method. ► The Chou model was better than the first order model in analyzing the kinetics of LaNi5-based alloys. ► Partial substituting of La with Ce, Pr, Nd increased the dehydriding rate, however, substituting Ni with Cu, Co, Fe decreased the hydrogen desorption rate. ► Surface penetration is the rate-controlling step for the alloys studied in this work.
