Abstract
ⶠThe research highlights of this work are energy transfer between two different rare earth ions in a SiO2 matrix. This leads to the enhanced luminescence of one centre at an expense of quenching the other. Understanding the energy transfer with different combination of rare earth ions can lead to tailor made phosphors with desired emission characteristics.
