Abstract
ⶠRapid solidification (RS) of aluminum alloy AA7000 series results in metastable structure of received flaked material. ⶠFine Zn-rich particles having quasicrystalline structure were found to be a specific component of the material. ⶠThere is a very limited number of papers describing specific structural components at RS aluminum alloys. ⶠFollowing consolidation of RS-flakes by vacuum compression and hot extrusion promotes coarsening of fine-grained structure of the material. ⶠThe quasicrystals are transformed into commonly known phases during vacuum compression at 670 K and following hot extrusion. ⶠIt was shown that the coarsening of structural components can be reduced if a new reversible-oscillating-die extrusion method is used. ⶠDetailed analysis of mentioned effects was not found in a literature.
