Abstract
ⶠTi-50 at.% Ni elemental powder mixtures were processed through mechanical alloying (MA). ⶠA design of experiments, based on the Taguchi method, was applied to optimize the MA parameters. ⶠWithin the milling energy range used, the milling time had bigger contribution than the milling speed (74% vs 25%) for the suppression of the high temperature reaction. ⶠCrystalline phases and an amorphous phase coexisted in the mechanically alloyed powders. ⶠWith MA a lamellar microstructure constituted by alternated nanolayers of Ni and Ti was produced.
