Abstract

A new compound with the formula VFeSbO6 has been synthesized by conventional method of calcining mixtures of appropriate oxides as well as mixtures FeVO4/α-Sb2O4 and SbVO5/Fe2O3. This compound has been characterized by using the XRD, DTA, IR and SEM/EDX methods. The results of investigations have indicated that VFeSbO6 melts incongruently at ∼1280 °C and crystallizes in the tetragonal system with the rutile-type structure. The structure of VFeSbO6 is built by FeO6, VO6 and SbO6 octahedra. The unit cell parameters have been calculated. The VFeSbO6 is a new promising component of catalysts for selective oxidation and ammoxidation reactions.
