Abstract
Magnetization study of single crystals of hydrides of the intermetallic compound Lu2Fe16.5Ru0.5 revealed that even a low hydrogen content as y = 0.6 in Lu2Fe16.5Ru0.5Hy suppresses totally the antiferromagnetic (AF) state, stabilizes the ferromagnetism (F) and increases the magnetic ordering temperature from TN = 208 K to TC = 290 K. Suppression of the F state (with decrease of TC) and restoration of the AF state (TN = 218 K) with a low-field metamagnetic transition was observed in Lu2Fe16.5Ru0.5H0.6 under hydrostatic pressures up to 0.9 GPa.
