Abstract
The interface bonding characteristics of metal-ceramic joints were investigated using bonded Al-SiC joints prepared in different processing conditions. Interface microstructures and chemistry were studied using scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscope analysis. The results revealed that the segregation of Si was increased with increasing holding time and temperature. The reported microhardness values were also increased towards the interface. The concentrated Si at the interface alters the interface characteristics positively.
