Abstract
The isothermal section of the phase diagram of the Dy-Ho-Co ternary system at 773Â K has been investigated by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), differential thermal analysis (DTA), optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques. The existence of 14 binary compounds Dy2Co17, Ho2Co17, Dy2Co7, Ho2Co7, DyCo3, HoCo3, DyCo2, HoCo2, Dy4Co3, Ho4Co3, Dy12Co7, Ho12Co7, Dy3Co and Ho3Co have been confirmed in this system at 773Â K. The Dy and Ho, Dy2Co17 and Ho2Co17, Dy2Co7 and Ho2Co7, DyCo3 and HoCo3, DyCo2 and HoCo2, Dy4Co3 and Ho4Co3, Dy12Co7 and Ho12Co7, Dy3Co and Ho3Co form continuous solid solutions, respectively. No ternary compound was found. The isothermal section consists of nine single-phase regions and eight two-phase regions. There is no three-phase region in the isothermal section.
