Abstract
In this study, Al/St/Al multilayers were produced successfully by roll bonding method. A relative bonding length parameter was defined and measured to evaluate the bonding strength of roll bonded multilayer strips. It was found that there is a direct correlation between the relative bonding length and the bond strength of tri-layer strip. Effects of several processing parameters including total reduction, rolling speed, thickness and yield strength of internal layer and frictional conditions on mean contact pressure, the relative bonding length and the bond strength were evaluated using relevant diagrams.
