Abstract
During the milling process, local environments of Fe and Co in mechanically alloyed (Fe0.5Co0.5)75Si15B10 powders were systematically investigated using extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) and 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy. While no substantial changes on the Fe-short-range order are observed in the Fe-edge EXAFS as a function of milling time, the Co-edge EXAFS data show significant modification on the Co-short-range order due to the presence of Si for the (Fe0.5Co0.5)75Si15B10 alloys milled longer than 10Â h. Mössbauer data suggest that the milled end-sample (19Â h sample) consists of nanograins of ordered BCC-FeCo (13%) embedded in FeCoSiB amorphous matrix phase.
