Abstract
Ordering of the L21 phase and its influence on the martensitic transformation temperature in Ni55Mn20−xGa25+x (x = 0, 1 and 2) alloys have been studied by differential thermal analysis (DTA) as well as differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The decrease in the order–disorder transformation (L21 → B2) temperature in these alloys has a direct influence on martensitic transformation temperature (TM). The stabilization of the martensite phase is found to be more pronounced for x = 0 and x = 1 alloys whose TM is near to room temperature.
