Abstract
Y1âxAlO3:Eux3+ and (GdyY1ây)0.93AlO3:Eu0.073+ powder phosphors have been synthesized by co-precipitation. When the multi-component hybrid precursors are sintered at 1200 °C for 2 h non-agglomerative powder phosphors can be obtained with particle sizes ranging from 300 nm to 600 nm. Phosphor structure and morphology were examined by X-ray diffraction and field emission scanning electron microscopy. Luminescence spectra of these phosphors have been investigated in order to examine the Eu3+ doping concentration and the host matrix compositional effects on the photoluminescent behaviors. The emission spectra have a strong emission at about 614 nm corresponding to the electric dipole 5D0 â 7F2 transition of Eu3+ in all compounds. The optimum molar concentration for obtaining the highest PL intensity were x = 0.07 and y = 0.7, respectively.
