Abstract
For undercooling less than a critical value (ΔTcrit), peritectic solidification occurs upon solidification of Fe–Co alloy, as evidenced by a peritectic layer observed in the as-solidified microstructure. Combing the current experimental results with the dendrite model calculations, it has been concluded that the occurrence of peritectic reaction and transformation was concerned to both thermodynamic and kinetic preconditions: the temperature and the atomic diffusion.
