Abstract
The 450 °C isothermal section of the Zn–Fe–Bi ternary phase diagram has been determined experimentally using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) coupled with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD). Five three-phase regions exist in the 450 °C isothermal section. Experimental results indicate that Bi is almost insoluble in the four Fe–Zn intermetallic compounds and in α-Fe phase, and the solid solubility of Fe in Bi-rich phase is also limited at 450 °C.
