La1−xSrxMnO3 (LSMO) compounds (x from 0 to 0.30) were synthesized by conventional solid-state reaction. The electrical resistivity and the thermal infrared properties of the as-prepared compounds were systematically investigated. The results indicate that appropriate Sr-doped LSMO compounds undergo metal–insulator transition with temperature variation as indicated by electrical resistivity and infrared reflection measurement. The relationship between the total hemispherical emittance (ɛH(T)) and the temperature of LSMO compounds were studied by use of low temperature calorimetric emissometer from 173 to 373 K. The ɛH(T) increases monotonously with increasing temperature, which makes LSMO compounds attractive as potential active thermal control materials for future satellites.
