Abstract
The recrystallized structure of an Al–Zn–Mg–Sc–Zr alloy was found to be significantly affected by dispersoid distribution which depending on the homogenization conditions. That is, the sizes and distribution of dispersoid particles were varied with different homogenization conditions. The finest and densest dispersoid of spherical Al3(Sc, Zr) particles resulting from the optimum homogenization condition can effectively inhibit recrystallization and resulting in the smallest fraction of recrystallized structure, and hence exhibiting the highest strength after aging treatment.
