Abstract
A phenomenological theory of evaporation for a system where the vapor source is a filament made of a solid solution of a volatile metal in a nonvolatile metal has been created. Approximate solutions, which describe both the evaporation process and the kinetics of the deposit growth with sufficient accuracy, have been obtained. This theoretical analysis is part of a general program of the development of evaporable (EG) and nonevaporable (NEG) lithium getters.
