Abstract
Alloy films in the immiscible Co-Ag system are prepared by ion beam assisted deposition (IBAD) at various ion incident angles. Metastable structures containing Co and Ag solid solutions and amorphous structures are obtained. The size of these components is within 5Â nm. The atomic magnetic moments (AMM) of Co are studied by X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD). The orbit moments are found to increase much. The orbit/spin ratio arrives to 0.27-0.38. The total AM varies in a wide range. The possible mechanism for the high orbit/spin ratios and variation of AMM are discussed on the base of crystalline structure, cluster size and interface.
