Abstract
Partial isothermal section of the phase diagram of the Dy–Co–Sn ternary system at 773 K (up to 66.7 at.% Sn) was investigated by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), differential thermal analysis (DTA), optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques. The existence of eight ternary compounds has been confirmed, except for DyCo3Sn and Dy4CoSn8. A new ternary compound Dy3Co4Sn10 (space group: F23, a = 1.3574 nm) was found. The results show that this section consists of 22 single-phase regions, 46 two-phase regions and 25 three-phase regions. None of these phases in this system revealed a remarkable homogeneity range at 773 K.
