Abstract
Thermal and optical properties of europium ions doped fluorogallate glasses, 20GaF3-15InF3-20CdF2-15ZnF2-(20 − x)PbF2-10SnF2-xEuF3 (xEu-GICZPS), are studied and the Judd-Oflet (J-O) intensity parameters Ωλ are calculated by different means. The results indicate that the Eu-GICZPS glass has the best stability when molar fraction 1.0% EuF3 was added in glass; the site symmetry of the ligand field at Eu3+ is higher and covalence of GICZPS glasses is lower than oxide glasses. Compared with the experimental and calculated lifetime of Eu3+5D0 level, the J-O intensity parameters Ωλ obtained from emission spectrum are more reliable than other approaches.
