Abstract
Severe plastic deformation allows obtaining fine grain sizes in a quasicrystalline reinforced Mg–Zn–Y alloy via hot rolling. The final grain size (∼1 μm) is reached after two passes. The decreases in the grain size results in a strong increase in the yield stress.
