Abstract

This study investigates the key characteristics of pulse-reverse electrodeposition, especially the optimum anodic current IA in relation to the magnetic properties as well as to the magnetic performance of specimens. Theoretical analysis on the working current density of pulse-reverse electrodeposition was conducted. A layer of Ni80Fe20 was deposited by means of direct current electrodeposition, pulse and pulse-reverse electrodeposition onto 20 μm diameter copper wires. The results showed that the magnetic properties of the electrodeposited wires were better than those of conventional dc and pulse electrodeposited wires. In pulse-reverse electrodeposition, the peak of magneto-impedance (MI) ratio has an increasing trend varying against the decrease of the anodic current IA. The working current efficiency of the pulse-reverse electrodeposition for permalloy is high, up to 87% in the present cases studied.
