Abstract
Cathode Li(Ni1/3Co1/3Mn1/3)O2 was prepared by solid-state reaction at low temperatures. Structures of the Li(Ni1/3Co1/3Mn1/3)O2 were investigated as a function of synthesis temperature. The initial discharge capacities are 149, 167, and 161 mAh/g for samples synthesized at 600, 700, and 800 °C. Except for the sample synthesized at 600 °C, the other two samples showed excellent capacity retention at room temperature. Both samples showed better electrochemical properties than those synthesized by co-precipitation and conventional solid-state reaction. The rate capability of the synthesized materials is very good, and the capacity retention is also excellent after 20 cycles.
