Abstract
On the basis of phase and microstructure selection in bulk undercooled Fe–B eutectic alloy melts, an extension of the eutectic zone and transformation from lamellar to anomalous eutectic are interpreted. In combination with a competition between metastable Fe3B and stable Fe2B above a critical undercooling, a selection map of eutectic zone as function of composition and temperature is given.
