Abstract
X-ray and neutron diffraction measurements have been performed on amorphous (a-)CeFe2D3.9 prepared by deuterium absorption of the C15 Laves phase compound CeFe2. Comparison of previous results for amorphous (a-)TbFe2D3.9 indicates differences in the location of deuterium atoms. A three-dimensional structural model is proposed for a-CeFe2D3.9 on the basis of reverse Monte Carlo (RMC) simulation with X-ray and neutron data. Marked differences in the location of deuterium atoms were found between a-TbFe2D3.9 and a-CeFe2D3.9.
