Abstract
The phase diagram of the Dy–Ag–Sn ternary system was constructed at 870 K using data of X-ray and partially metallographic analyses. Presence of the DyAgSn stannide in the system was confirmed (ST CaIn2, SG P63/mmc, a = 0.46813(2), c = 0.73433(5) nm) and two new compounds were found: Dy3Ag4Sn4 (ST Gd3Cu4Ge4, SG Immm, a = 0.45316(1), b = 0.72887(2), c = 1.51225(5) nm) and DyAgSn2 (ST Cu3Au, SG Pm-3m, a = 0.45310(1) nm). The DyAgSn2 is a Curie–Weiss paramagnet in the temperature range 80–470 K (μeff = 10.64μB, θр = −14 K). A formation of substitutional solid solutions DyAg1−xSnx and DyAg2−xSnx was established.
