Abstract
Combustion synthesis of phosphors for plasma display panels (PDP) is reported. They include phosphors which are already in commercial use like BaMgAl10O17:Eu2+ and BaAl12O19:Mn2+ as well as some recently reported aluminates like SrMgAl10O17:Eu2+ and GdCaAl3O7: Eu3+. The phosphors so prepared were characterized by XRD, PL and X-ray excited luminescence (XEL) techniques. XRD studies confirmed formation of all the aluminates except Sr3Al10SiO2 in a single step. PL spectra were also in good agreement with the literature results.
